How Wilks Score Is Calculated

The Wilks Score represents your strength level adjusted for body weight and gender, allowing for fair comparisons. It uses the official Wilks Formula, a complex polynomial equation, to calculate a coefficient that standardizes performance.

Wilks Score = Total Lifted (kg) × Coefficient

Where the Coefficient is calculated as:

500 / (a + b×BW + c×BW² + d×BW³ + e×BW⁴ + f×BW⁵)

To find your score, the tool first sums your squat, bench press, and deadlift totals. Then, it applies specific coefficients for your body weight and gender to determine a multiplier. Finally, it multiplies your total lift by this coefficient. This method is widely accepted because it ensures fairness across all weight classes in powerlifting competitions.

What Your Wilks Score Means

This number tells you how strong you are compared to others, effectively leveling the playing field between lifters of different sizes. It allows you to see where you stand globally. A higher score signifies greater relative strength.

Beginner lifters often see scores between 200 and 250 as they focus on learning proper technique and building a solid base. If your goal is local competition, you should aim for a score of 300 to 350 to be competitive in your class against other peers. Advanced athletes target scores over 400, which places them in the top tier of strength athletes relative to their weight and is often required for national-level entry.

Important: While useful for comparison, the score does not factor in leverages or training age.

Recalculate your score every training cycle to ensure your relative strength is trending upward. Stagnation in the score often means you need to refine your diet or intensity.
