Destiny 2 Roll Calculator
The Destiny 2 Roll Calculator estimates your Roll Quality Score. Simply enter your weapon's stat values, possible ranges, and importance weights to calculate how close your roll is to perfect. This calculator helps Guardians evaluate weapon drops and decide which gear deserves to stay in the vault.
This calculator is for informational purposes only. Roll values are based on user input and may not reflect actual in-game performance. Game mechanics and stat ranges may change with updates.
What Is Roll Quality Score
Roll Quality Score is a percentage that shows how good your weapon stat roll is compared to the best possible roll. It takes your actual stat value and compares it to the minimum and maximum possible values for that stat. A higher score means your weapon rolled closer to its maximum potential. This score helps Guardians quickly compare different weapon drops and decide which ones are worth keeping.
How Roll Quality Score Is Calculated
Formula
NormalizedStat = (BaseStat - MinStat) / (MaxStat - MinStat)
RollQualityScore = (Sum of WeightedScores / Sum of Weights) x 100
Where:
- BaseStat = the actual stat value on your weapon
- MinStat = the lowest possible roll for this stat
- MaxStat = the highest possible roll for this stat
- WeightedScore = NormalizedStat x StatWeight
- StatWeight = how important this stat is to your build (0 to 10)
The calculator first finds where your stat falls between the minimum and maximum possible values. This gives a number between 0 and 1. A stat at the minimum gets 0, and a stat at the maximum gets 1. Then it multiplies by the weight you assigned to that stat. If you enter multiple stats, it adds up all the weighted scores and divides by the total weights. Finally, it multiplies by 100 to show the result as a percentage. This method ensures that more important stats have a bigger impact on your overall score.
Why Roll Quality Score Matters
Knowing your Roll Quality Score helps you make smarter choices about which weapons to keep, dismantle, or infuse. Instead of guessing whether a stat roll is good, you get a clear number that shows exactly how close it is to perfect.
Why Accurate Evaluation Is Important for Gear Management
Guardians who skip evaluating their rolls often end up with cluttered vaults full of mediocre weapons. Without a clear way to compare rolls, you might dismantle a near-perfect weapon while keeping an average one. This can cost you resources and time when you later need to find better gear for activities.
For PvE Players
In PvE activities like raids and dungeons, certain stats matter more depending on your playstyle. A high Roll Quality Score on Range and Stability helps you land more shots at distance. You can weight these stats higher to find weapons that suit your PvE loadouts.
For PvP Players
Competitive PvP demands precise stat requirements for weapon archetypes. Handling and Reload Speed often matter more here than in PvE. By adjusting weights for each activity type, you can maintain separate evaluations for your Crucible and Trials arsenals.
For New Players
New Guardians often struggle to understand which weapon rolls are worth chasing. This calculator provides objective feedback that helps you learn what makes a good roll. Over time, you will develop better intuition for spotting high-quality drops in the wild.
Roll Quality Score vs Total Stat Points
Total stat points only tell you the sum of all stats, not how good each individual roll is. A weapon with 70 total points might have better individual rolls than one with 80 points if the second weapon has more stats near their minimums. Roll Quality Score accounts for the possible range of each stat, giving you a more accurate picture of weapon quality.
Example Calculation
A Guardian finds a new Hand Cannon and wants to check the Range stat. The weapon shows Range at 73. The Guardian knows from research that Hand Cannons of this type can roll Range between 50 and 85. They set the weight to 2 because Range is important for their playstyle.
The calculator starts by finding the normalized stat. It subtracts the minimum (50) from the base stat (73) to get 23. Then it divides by the range difference (85 minus 50 equals 35). So 23 divided by 35 gives 0.6571. This means the Range stat is about 66 percent of the way from minimum to maximum. Multiplying by 100 gives a Roll Quality Score of 65.71 percent.
The calculator displays: Roll Quality Score: 65.71% | Normalized Stat: 0.6571 | Percent of Maximum: 65.71%
This score tells the Guardian the weapon has an above-average Range roll. It is not perfect, but it is noticeably better than the middle of the pack. The Guardian might decide to keep this weapon if other stats also score well, or continue farming for a higher Range roll if that stat is a priority.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the minimum and maximum stat ranges for my weapon?
You can look up weapon stat ranges on community databases like Light.gg or DIM. These sites show the possible roll ranges for each weapon type. Some in-game tools also display stat bars that hint at the range, but external databases give exact numbers.
What stat weight should I use?
Use a weight of 0 for stats you do not care about. Use 1 for normal importance. Use 5 or higher for stats that are essential to your build. The weight scale goes up to 10, so a stat weighted 10 is ten times more important than a stat weighted 1.
Does a higher Roll Quality Score always mean a better weapon?
Not always. The score only measures how close your stats are to their maximum possible values. It does not account for weapon perks, archetype, or how the stats interact with your playstyle. A lower-scoring weapon with great perks might outperform a higher-scoring one with poor perks.
Can I use this calculator for armor stats?
Yes. Armor stats like Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery use fixed minimum and maximum ranges. Enter your armor stat values and their possible ranges to see how close each piece is to a perfect roll. You can weight stats based on your build priorities.
