Formula Used
Blood Volume = a × Height³ + b × Weight + c
Where:
- For Males: 0.3669 × H³ + 0.03219 × W + 0.6041
- For Females: 0.3561 × H³ + 0.03308 × W + 0.1833
- H = Height in meters
- W = Weight in kilograms
Example Calculation
Real-World Scenario:
A 70kg male who is 175cm tall wants to know his blood volume for medical planning.
Given:
- Weight = 70 kg
- Height = 175 cm = 1.75 m
- Gender = Male
Calculation:
Blood Volume = 0.3669 × (1.75)³ + 0.03219 × 70 + 0.6041
Blood Volume = 0.3669 × 5.36 + 2.2533 + 0.6041
Blood Volume = 1.967 + 2.2533 + 0.6041 = 4.8244 liters
Result: 4.82 liters (or 4824 milliliters) of blood volume
