How Total PT Score Is Calculated
The Total PT Score represents a soldier's overall physical fitness level based on standardized Army testing protocols. This calculation uses the official scoring tables from Army Field Manual 7-22 to convert raw performance data into point values.
- First, select your test type (APFT or ACFT) and enter your demographic details like age and gender.
- Next, input your raw performance numbers for each required event, such as repetition counts or run times.
- Finally, the calculator cross-references your inputs against the official scoring scales to assign points for each event.
Pro Tip
Remember that it is recommended to score at least 60 points in every single event to pass, regardless of your total cumulative score.
This method aims to support your Calculation accurately reflect the current standards for your specific profile.
What Your Total PT Score Means
Your Total PT Score indicates whether you pass the Army's physical requirements and highlights your overall fitness level relative to your peers.
Scoring Breakdown
Meeting the Standard: For the APFT, you need a total of 180 points, while the ACFT requires 360. It is recommended to also score a minimum of 60 points in every single event.
Exceeding the Standard: A score above 240 on the APFT or 480 on the ACFT demonstrates superior fitness and can help with promotion points.
Maximum Score: Scoring 300 on the APFT or 600 on the ACFT puts you in the top tier of physical readiness.
Important: High total points do not guarantee a pass if you fail a specific event, such as the run or plank. Always focus on your weakest event first.
Track your scores every month to see improvement and ensure you stay above the minimum passing threshold before your official test date.
